Call For Papers Mid-Size City

The Ghent Urban Studies Team, in which numerous members of our department take part, organizes in april 2012 a colloquium on the mid-size city, and the dual nature of urban imagery in Europe during the long 20th century. A scientific committee invites interested parties to send in possible contributions to the symposium. Call for papers.

Symposium: Spatial Planning in Flanders/Belgium

 On 15nd and 16nd December 2011, in the Provinciehuis in Leuven, the symposium Spatial Planning in Flanders/Belgium: challenges for policy, opportunities for society will be organized by the Flemish Administration for Spatial Planning.

Nik Naudts, Daan Devree en Pieter Uyttenhove will present a project by Labo Sthat is housed by the Department of Architecture & Urban Planning: Shifting between generic regulation, regional vision and site-specific design. Policy recommendations for spatial planning through the nonlinear practice of research by design.

Lecture Dr. Michael Lacasse

 Assessing the Long-term Performance of Wood frame Wall Assemblies

Dr. Michael Lacasse senior research officer at the National Research Council in Canada, will present an overview of ongoing research the 24th of october (auditorium E).
Based on an elaborate series of experiments an advanced numerical heat-air-moisture model was developed, which allows to assess the long-term performance of wood frame wall assemblies for a range of different climates.
