KIRIPI KATEMBO, REFLECTIONS ON THE AFRICAN CITY / BOOK LAUNCH AND TALK
On Thursday October 8th 2015, at 8pm, the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning organizes a book launch and talk on the work of the Congolese photographer Kiripi Katembo, in collaboration with the Ghent Africa Platform and Africalia. Kiripi Katembo’s images shed a particular light on the contemporary condition in cities like Kinshasa and Brazzaville.
After launching the book Transit – RDC by Frédéric Jacquemin, director of Africalia, and a tribute to the photographer, who passed away unexpectedly this summer, by writer Jean Bofane, a number of experts will reflect on the work of Kiripi and the African city: Filip De Boeck (KULeuven), Kristien Geenen (UGent), Tristan Guilloux (architect-urban planner, Lyon) and Johan Lagae (UGent). Afterwards, some drinks will be offered. All contributions will be in French.
