The Department of Architecture & Urban Planning provides the major share in the Bachelor and the Master programmes in architecture. The Department also contributes an important part to the Master of Science in Urbanism and Spatial Planning.

Designing is central to the education our Department offers. Designing concerns not only the activity in the studios and the courses that support the studio teaching. It also concerns a particular attitude towards a broad range of knowledge areas that are related to designing, such as theory and history of architecture and urban planning, building physics or construction technology.

In each of these areas the Department develops original research that participates to the international scientific debates. Where this is relevant, our research engages in a dialogue with the architectural and planning fields of practice, by contributing expertise to the shaping of the built environment and by reflecting on its actual condition.
