Architecture exhibitions do not only mediate designs and research, they also advance particular auteur approaches to the very practice of exhibiting. In this seminar master students did a hands-on study of selected exhibition authors’ means and strategies. The brief was to conceive an exhibition formula and infrastructure to display student work in the context of our department. Seven duos did an exercise in critical appropriation, conceiving and representing an exhibition proposal ‘à la manière de’ architecten de vylder vinck taillieu (Cleo De Laet & Louis De Mey); Architecture Workroom Brussels (Kjell Keymolen & Olivier Pareyn); Bovenbouw (Lode Lefevre & Lies Quatanne); Kris Kimpe (Lorenzo Alaimo & Lorenzo Grieco); Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen (Robby Fivez & Simon Martens); Rotor (Dries De Muynck & Joren Steens); and Richard Venlet (Can Chen & Ines Terstappen)
This research-by-design project is also discussed in a 2016 article in the Journal of Architectural Education.
