Design a shelter with a working space in the cliffs of Cap Blanc Nez in the North of France. A beachcomber could find shelter there, or a paleontologist, an artist, … The imaginary envelop from which can be dug is a cube of 10x10x10. The carved out volume can occupy maximum half of this envelope.
Particular points of attention in this exercise are the design of a work/living program with care for the special qualities in three dimensions. Daylight and accessibility are essential aspects of the design and should therefore be carefully positioned and dimensioned. Dealing with the oppositions of mass and void, positive and negative space, are central aspects of this exercise.
