Kim De Raedt (°1987) graduated in 2010 as a civil engineer–architect at the University of Ghent, with a master thesis on the role of identity, memory and community in the architectural landscape of post-apartheid South Africa.Currently she is a research and teaching assistant at the UGent, where she prepares a PhD (sup. Prof. Johan Lagae) on transnational networks of architectural expertise and practice which emerged through mechanisms of development aid in post-independence Africa. To understand the impact of development aid on the built environment, the project looks in particular at school building programs.
